Synopsis
The Pearl is about greed and lost dreams. It is a simple but tragic tale of a young pearl diver/fisherman. It is set in California Baja. The story tells how Kino, the main character, finds the greatest pearl in the world. He has great hopes that the pearl will changes his life. It does, but not for the better. He tries to sell the pearl but finds it is not easy. The pearl buyers want to cheat him. Others try to steal the pearl by attacking him and finally burning his house. He is forced to take his wife and baby son and flee from his village. In another attack, his baby son is killed. Kino realizes that money is not always the most important thing in life. In the end, he throws away the greatest pearl in the world.
